3. Suport the High Speed Ground Transportation Association, the HSGTA was organized in 1983 to advocate the integration of high-speed ground transportation service in North America and world-wide as a necessary addition to existing transportation networks.
This is the only international organization with the sole purpose to promote the design, construction and operation of high-speed ground transportation systems.
High-speed rail is a generic name for a family of technologies, both steel-wheel on rail and magnetic levitation (maglev) systems.
Without a single passenger fatality in more than 30 years of operation in Europe and Japan, high-speed rail is the safest form of transportation in the world.
Integrating these systems requires a strong collaboration among industry interests. Our membership is among the most diverse of any similar organization.
4. Membership is open to all -- in any capacity -- who want to become involved in this potential $100 billion North American industry.
It includes international representatives from the:
Financial Community
Engineering & Design Professionals
Labor Unions
Construction Industry
Rail Equipment Companies
Material Suppliers
Service Providers
National State & Local Governments, Universities & Research Facilities.
